Garthorne Road Nature Reserve Conservation volunteering 2018

Update: Unfortunately the workday was cancelled due to the adverse weather conditions and the safety of the volunteers. The reserve will be open on Saturday 7th April 10am – 1pm.

Garthorne Road Nature Reserve an important wildlife site and former fragment of the Great North Wood. Please join the friends to help them manage this green oasis in Forest Hill for people and wildlife.

Workdays are 10am – 1pm

Saturday 17th March: We will be continuing to Installing steps and path edging to protect the native wildflowers.

Please wear suitable clothing and footwear and bring work gloves if you have them. Tools will be provided. Workday will be cancelled in case of heavy rain and/or strong winds.

Mapping the Great North Wood Screening Friday 2nd February 2018 at 6pm

 

Once, a large part of South London was forest. This documentary tracks its amazing history, and today’s efforts to conserve its surviving remnants. The full 20-minute film, featuring historic maps and live footage, will be screened at 6pm on Friday 2 February 2018 at the Centre for Wildlife Gardening, 28 Marsden Rd, London SE15 4EE. Admission is free and refreshments will be provided.
