As the Friends reopened the reserve and spring has definitely sprung at Garthorne Road Nature Reserve. tens of visitors enjoyed the blooming plants. as they walked round the reserve in the sunshine during its monthly open day on Saturday.

Some of the wildflowers are in bloom. This includes daffodils next to the bug hotel, viburnum, blackthorn, and violets. They give early nectar for the bees. Tadpoles could also be seen in the ‘secret pond’.

It was also an opportunity for younger visitors to collect insects and bugs. The reserve’s volunteers helped identified them.

Our next Open Day we be on Saturday 18th April from 2pm – 5pm. So please come along and support us.
